Longtime Family Savvy friend Julie Robinson (pictured here with writer Tobias Wolff) is an accomplished book club leader who has created a local festival at which readers can meet their favorite authors. Dubbed the Beverly Hills Literary Escape, this year’s event takes place on October 18 and 19 and will feature writers such as Geraldine Brooks, Chang-rae Lee, Karen Joy Fowler, Ruth Ozeki, Maria Semple and Anthony Marra.

If you love reading, or are involved with a book club, her choice of reading material is impeccable. With contacts in the publishing world, and years of experience leading groups of intelligent readers, Julie is a brand that you can trust when it comes to what to read. Her website, Literary Affairs, is a fabulous resource — we use it often, and love checking in on her Book of the Month picks. And, if you sign up for her email list, you’ll get notices for classes and retreats.
Each year, Julie names a Medici Book Club Prize, which is awarded to the author at the event. Here is a list of the finalists – and the winner, Ruth Ozeki, will receive her award on Sunday October 19.
