Get to know The Broad Stage
The Broad is a beautiful space in Santa Monica that has diverse programming for all ages and two great shows for young audiences this month. We love performances that get kids out of their seats because they provide a deep and memorable experience. This Saturday’s Musical Explorers is a high-energy, interactive show fresh from Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. And next weekend, Fairytale UnScripted uses improv to explore fairy tales in conjunction with USC’s Calder Quartet.
Musical Explorers is an interactive musical journey featuring top local artists in the fields of Cuban, Jazz, and classical Indian music. Playful and informative, this inventive program will get children listening, singing, and thinking about musical traditions both familiar and yet to be explored. The program consists of three groups from very different musical backgrounds and is ideal for children 5 and older.
Be a part of the excitement as critically acclaimed improvisational theatre company Impro Theatre gives life to the magical world of fairy tales with Fairytale UnScripted. You and your child will be amazed by what unfolds when the wit and energy of Impro Theatre is combined with the dynamic music of the Broad’s Artists-in-Residence, the Calder Quartet. Also perfect for children 5 and older.
