In the past two months, two icons of sports filmmaking have left us. The first was Bruce Brown (The Endless Summer) who helped to romanticize the surfing lifetsyle, and died in December 2017. And this week, an iconoclastic son of California, Warren Miller, died at the age of 93. A ski bum turned filmmaker, Miller’s films were funny and inspired us all to take to the slopes – since there’s snow coming to the mountains this weekend, you might want to check out this list of his films by Outside Magazine. Here’s another obit with further detail.
