In my work with Common Sense, I’ve been producing a series of conversations for parents and educators. The latest is with Carrie James and Emily Weinstein, authors of the book Behind Their Screens: What Teen Are Facing (And Adults Are Missing). It’s a terrific accounting of what it’s like to grown up with a smart phone today – the perils of communication with peers are recounted here with precise detail, scholarly research and actionable takeaways for parents. It’s a wonderful book (highly recommended) and here is a conversation with the authors, two wonderful Harvard Graduate School of Education researchers who did the long-term research and provide compassionate and accurate insights into the complex emotional lives of digital natives.
