Westwood Village has a lovely new french restaurant called Violet that had the misfortune to open during the first week of the COVID-19 quarantine, but that hopefully can weather the storm because the neighborhood needs a classy spot to dine, and will embrace this elegant new spot. Chef and owner Dana Slatkin (chef and cookbook author known formerly as The Beverly Hills FarmGirl) definitely knows her way around French and Italian cuisine, but has a CA girl’s intuition about how we all like to eat right now. Her Executive Chef, Camden Hershberger, worked at Bouchon, Tartine, Bianco, and Tallula’s before coming to Westwood.
Violet also has a little shop and a cooking school upstairs from the restaurant, and we’re crossing our fingers that the whole enterprise survives the quarantine. Until then, consider ordering dinner and purchasing gift cards to help this new gem survive.
