Pulling into Union Station for Architecture Appreciation
For thirty-five years the Conservancy has offered fascinating walking tours of Downtown L.A., introducing countless Angelenos to the rich history and culture that the area’s architecture has to offer. This year they are marking the 35th anniversary of their walking tour program with special programs, including new youth and family tours of the marvelous Union Station.
LA Blasts Off: Journey to Space at the California Science Center
The California Science Center is hosting the travelling exhibition and 3-D film Journey to Space, which explore what it is like to live and work in space today, and what the future of space exploration holds. Since a visit to the Science Center also offers the opportunity to stand before the mighty Space Shuttle Endeavor, the museum is presently offering a high-impact trio of experiences for space enthusiasts, including several moments along the way where the local SoCal connection is noted.
LACMA’s RAIN ROOM — EXTENDED THROUGH JULY 2016
Photography buffs take note: LACMA's new Rain Room, which opens on Sunday, November 1 and is open through March 6, 2016, is a challenge to capture on film. Instagram is already flooded with shots from previous installations in London and New York. Some are quite good, but from what we've seen, none really captures the intangible magic of the experience. And, that is exactly what the artists are exploring: the irresistible, but vexing, tension between nature and technology in our every day lives.
